Nutritional Profile of Davidson Plum: Davidson plum is a nutrient-dense fruit that contains a range of essential vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds. According to available composition data and published research, Davidson plum contains vitamin C, dietary fibre, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and a range of polyphenols (Food Standards Australia New Zealand – Australian Food Composition Database).

Antioxidants and Polyphenols: Davidson plum is particularly notable for its high levels of anthocyanins — natural plant pigments responsible for its deep purple colour. These compounds are part of a broader group known as polyphenols, which have been shown in laboratory studies to exhibit strong antioxidant activity (Netzel et al., Food Chemistry, 2014). Antioxidants help protect cells from oxidative stress, which is associated with ageing and various chronic conditions.

Vitamin C Content: Davidson plum contains vitamin C, which plays an important role in normal immune function, collagen production, and antioxidant protection (National Institutes of Health – Vitamin C Fact Sheet).
